How Persimmons Are Great For You
Sleuth Smarts Saturday.
I've been obsessed with persimmons this season, and couldn't let winter get away without doing a SS featuring this amazing fruit!
SLEUTH SMARTS.
The persimmon contains a significant amount of Vitamin A (check out that bright orange color!) which is good for skin and vision.
Has loads of Tannins, which regulate intestinal movement.
High in Copper, which aids in proper iron absorption.
Rich in B-Complex vitamins, known to regulate mood and the metabolic system.
They contain a compound called Betulinic acid, which is anti-cancer and anti-tumor.
It is an anti-hemorrhagic, and has been used in controlling excessive bleeding from wounds!
Amazing source of phytochemicals, anti-inflammatory plant compounds that protect from infectious disease.
Sleuth Tip: Wait until persimmons get sickeningly ripe to consume! Most people eat them far too early, and they aren't that sweet and can cause a stomach ache.
